"Smart Codon Permutator" includes the partial randomization of codons at rationally selected positions of the protein, followed by a selection of subtly efficient clones to be taken for the second stage of development. The second stage, the "Sequence Blender" ,is a technique which allows recombining of favorable mutations from different clones with a minimal amount of screening, and thereby improves the performance of the resulting proteins.
